Dr. Huber: Things You Need to Know About GMO and Roundup
Published on by Yoshimi Yoshida, Environmental Consultant
Would you feed your child with Roundup™ grown crops ?
Story at-a-glance-
- There are NO peer-reviewed scientific papers establishing the safety of GMO crops. There are, however, both clinical and peer-reviewed scientific papers showing the hazards of GMO crops, including harmful secondary effects
- Epidemiological patterns show there’s an identical rise in over 30 human diseases alongside our increased usage of glyphosate and the increased prevalence of genetically engineered proteins in our food
- Glyphosate is not “just” an herbicide. It was originally patented as a mineral chelator. It immobilizes nutrients, making them unavailable for your body. It’s also patented as a potent antibiotic that can devastate human gut bacteria
- The EPA recently doubled the amount of glyphosate allowed in food. Soybean oil is now allowed to contain a whopping 400 times the limit at which it can impact your health

GM is not bad per say but commercial introduction of GM crops without proper scientific testing can be really very hazardous. It is known that each living cell - no matter what specialised function it does -- nervous/ sensory, structural or processing, it receives stimuli from environment and also interacts with its environment which also comprises of so many living cells of living beings. So, controlled testing of at least 7 to 8 birth cycles with accurate impact assessment of not only the GM crop variant but also all other living beings in that environment is a must. MNCs should exhibit a lot of patience in testing it in a transparent method, may be under an impartial apex body for all. What if a GM crop does not do what it does under special care or formulation of inputs ? Farmers are not obliged to do exactly as told. Then what kind of diseases the crop can get and spread or are instrumental in generating pathogen carriers for other crops....GM Crop variants which are not self sustaining and would need new seeds every one or two or three cycles are also not recommendable because farmers are not well educated and equipped everywhere and can get big losses...Only self sustaining and proven modifications in terms of developing RESISTANCE TO PARTICULAR DISEASES, INCREASING YIELD, MODIFYING GROWTH PATTERNS/ FLOWERING, FRUIT FORMATION, MODIFYING EVAPOTRANSPIRATION, BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY, ETC. SHOULD BE ATTEMPTED AFTER DETAILED STUDY OF GENETRICS OF EXISTING PLANT VARIETIES.

Please also note, in a recent report, saying that GM Farmers Use MORE Pesticides.

Excellent points, thank you for sharing. The main point here is that there is no Peer Reviewed Scientific Research that assures any safety of GM. So how can you tell if it is good or bad. No one knows. Well, there are quite a few research papers and evidences that show that GM can disrupt healthy body, or cause illness / Tumor. So what does that say? There are more we do not know about GM, far little we know about it and its safety. It also takes years to see any health consequence - So many people today suffer from allergies, intolerance of some kind (Gluten, dairy etc). Can you imagine the amount of MONEY being spent for medical ? What about R&D for miracle drugs to treat? Isn't it Time for us To consider what we FEED OUR BODY at the first place (if organically grown, free pesticides) can be The Best MEDICINE we could afford at the first place??
FOOD as MEDICINE. NOT GM Food - Ilness/Disease - Pharma Drug (Toxic) -- bad cycle ??

I would not feed my child, pet or any living creature 'roundup ready' crops. Think about it, glyphosate will not kill it and a worm will not eat it, if it does it will die. Why would humans eat it? Maybe the worm is smarter than the human in this situation.
