EU to lead fight on climate change

Europe stands “ready to lead the fight” for global emissions reductions even if Donald Trump undercuts the bloc’s efforts to tackle the issue, the European Commission’s energy chief has said.
Mr Sefcovic added that Europe was “clearly ready to continue the global leadership on the fight against #Climate Change ”, including helping the developing world.
The EU is working with China, which has also warned Mr Trump not to abandon climate change goals, to support the introduction of a nationwide emissions trading scheme by the end of the year.
The Brussels energy chief plans to visit every EU member state to help them draft national plans to meet commitments under the 2015 Paris climate change accord, which seeks to cut greenhouse gases enough to curb global warming.
