Alie Eleveld
About
Alie Eleveld is a paediatric nurse, specialized in Tropical Medicine and Public Health. She has graduated with a Master’s in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2009. She has over 32 years of working experience in Eastern Africa in HIV, WASH and general public health programs and research. She is founding member of Safe Water and AIDS Program (SWAP), which has since 2005 been operating in Western Kenya in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health with health programs, research and emergency response. She provided technical support in more than 30 studies evaluating the health and economic impact of health interventions, products and technologies. The program received international donor support from donors such as Rotary International, WHO, CDC, USAID, DFID, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, International Universities and research institutions. SWAP won several prestigious international awards and received media coverage. Alie was decorated by Queen Beatrix from the Netherlands in 2013 as Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau for her work with vulnerable communities. Alie is a permanent resident in Kenya.
