Low Turbidity Treatment Plant
Published on by Maysoon Sharif, Project Manager at Greeley and Hansen for AguaClara Reach
For raw water up to 50 NTU, we use a three step treatment train consisting of Coagulation, Enclosed Stacked Rapid Filtration, and Disinfection. These plants are smaller and serve villages of 30-250 households. At no point in the treatment process is any electricity required.
The systems are pre-fabricated, and can be made using locally available materials. Parts are modular, making it easy for operators to repair and replace parts. Operators with a 6th grade education may run the low turbidity systems independently. O&M costs, including long term repairs, are 1-2 USD per household per month.
