Graduate Engineer A
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
None.
Graduate Engineer B
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a related field, plus two (2) years of experience in engineering.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
Texas: Engineer – In Training Certification.
Engineer A
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of engineering experience acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must have the ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.

Position overview
- The Water Resources Team in the Systems Planning Division is responsible for managing the City’s water rights and water supply contracts, performing water supply analyses, leading the development and facilitating implementation of long range water resource plans (including Water Forward, Austin’s 100 year Integrated Water Resource Plan), participating in the regional water supply planning process, supporting the City’s partnership with the LCRA, and participating in a number of related efforts including climate resiliency initiatives, innovative water strategies, social equity and affordability efforts, and environmental stewardship initiatives.
- Working as a part of the Water Resources Team, this position coordinates with the Systems Planning Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Infrastructure Planning Teams to develop planning deliverables like population and employment projections, future water and wastewater service areas, and future demand and flow forecasts. This position develops geospatially disaggregated data used for engineering analyses and uses engineering judgement to use this information to incorporate this information into water resources and water and wastewater infrastructure planning processes. This position coordinates with utility, City, and regional planning processes and provides technical advice, guidance, and support to various related initiatives including Imagine Austin comprehensive planning and land development code revisions, neighborhood planning, and jurisdictional mapping and coordination.
This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:
Graduate Engineer A: $31.65 to $39.56 per hour
Graduate Engineer B: $32.89 to $41.93 per hour
Engineer A: $34.86 to $44.45 per hour

Travel:
