Position Summary:

The Senior Scientist should have experience in ultrahigh temperature plasma technology development. The candidate must have a very broad and strong technical background and working knowledge in applied thermal plasma science and engineering. Areas of technology research and development interest include gasification of waste materials for energy applications, advanced nanomaterials synthesis, hydrogen production, hazardous industrial waste destruction, and critical materials recovery. Ideal candidates must have a background in materials, plasma, and chemical sciences. Suitable background includes chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, or related science and engineering disciplines.

Position Responsibilities:

• Being the subject matter expert on issues related to the thermal plasma elements of the gasifier
• Design of plasma torches and electrode arcs
• Evaluating and improving the performance of the plasma gasifier in both lab and industrial settings
• Taking a leading role in the lab testing of the plasma gasifier
• Other duties as assigned

Skillset Requirements:

• PHD in one of the following disciplines: physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related science and engineering disciplines
• Experience with thermal plasma technology
• Broad practical experience designing and working with industrial systems; possess solid equipment and system operational knowledge to enable effective collaboration in the design of detailed gasification systems. Practical experience to include: Working knowledge in electrical & electronic engineering as well as mechanical engineering is desirable.
• Travel up to 25% may be required
