Design Engineer/Mechanical Engineer
Are you an engineer with a passion for developing life changing technology? Do you pride yourself in your ability to use your engineering know-how to solve big problems?
Novus is looking for a dynamic engineer to join our small but perfectly formed team to help us take our first product to market.
You will
- Be required to solve technical problems by utilising your ability to research, design and test innovative solutions.
- Manage suppliers to help you deliver
- Develop robust CAD models and assemblies and translate them into manufacturing inputs
- Utilising your DFMA experience to optimise our products for manufacture and cost
- Be able to work autonomously to deliver your projects through the product development milestone process
- Contribute to the Novus strategy through design and engineering
- Reporting to the Head of Design & Engineering you will be one of the first members of the Novus team and play a vital role in the success of our vision. You will work collaboratively with all of the functions to take your product to through the development process to market readiness.

Your Experience
- Degree qualification in Design Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 2+ years experience in product development, ideally in consumer markets.
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems and engineering principles, in particular fluids and motor systems
- Good proficiency in CAD software such as Solidworks or NX
- Experience working with external partners and suppliers
- Comfortable working under pressure and in a dynamic and changing environment
- Excellent ability to capture and share information through the design process
- Driven by solving engineering problems that have a big impact
- Experience with designing with sheet metal
- Experience with developing methods to evaluate and test product performance against design requirements
- Understanding of the whole product development process from concept design through to manufacture
- Good experience working cross functionally with electronics and firmware engineers
- Knowledge of materials and associated manufacturing processes
- Have a portfolio demonstrating your experience in product development
- Experience in developing technical product requirements from user and business needs
- Have experience of utilising quality methods and failure mode avoidance to improve products
