I have also been looking for something as an alternative to my disastrous experiences with on-line ISE electrodes. Take a look at https://www.ott.com/product-guide-ott-econ-low-maintenance-uv-nitrate-in-situ-sensor/ and https://realtechwater.com/products/uv-vis-sensors/nl-series/ which use UV absorbtion measurement for readings. I like the idea of low maintenance and no calibration.

I use NO3 strip of Merck since I was study M.Sc. the accuracy is ok and less toxic waste including safe for the researcher...to monitoring by using Cd reduction. Hach product had been used as well to find out the concentration of NO3 and other heavy metal..N P K..in one equipment. But for me I use Merck product because I use for my thesis and this monitoring have been used widely. For color or sprectrum yes I think both of them the same. If you want to monitoring NO3 ranging 0.5 -50 mg/l Merck is better but you should try on Hach as well to know technology innovation for scientific products. AGGIE BKK Thailand

Applitek has been acquired by Hach and these analyzers are now marketed as EZ Analyzers. The method for the EZ7700 Total Nitrogen analyzer utilizes a colorimetric measurement at 546 nm using hydrazine reduction and NEDD colour solution after persulphate digestion in alkaline medium, conforming with APHA 4500-N, Additional information can be found at www.hach.com or through your local Hach representative.
