Are the Non-conventional Reservoir Well's Fracked Just One Time During its Shelf Life?

I think that proppants do not keep the fractures open over time because the oil flow itself weakens and degrades the sand along with overburden pressure.
I have not found, however, evidence both of this fact and technical papers regarding this issue.
Please share any information including case studies and papers on this topic.
Much appreciated.

About another issue pertaining to fracking, several days ago at a water conference there was a session, in which the presenter described problems with infant health an mortality, related to water wells nearby the sites of fracking. Sorry I have no details at the moment.
