Hi Niva, In addition to recommendations of Maarten, you will need the elevation data for the terrain where the canal should be designed. A good source of elevation data is STRM 30 which can be downloaded free of charge from USGS EarthData website (https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/). The elevation data are provided for a grid with distances of 30 m in north and east direction.
