Atmospheric pollution ...

Atmospheric pollution (Sulphur dioxide/oxides of nitrogen) renders water bodies turn acidic in addition to mine polluted water. This has an impact on amphibian abundance, diversity and reproduction. Lime addition helps reduce acidity. But, water and lime result in calcium hydroxide and to avoid this, lime addition should be slow and in small quantities – this prevents splash and damage eyes. Simultaneously, excessive water may lead to explosion due to vigorous reaction.
