Hi everybody
As you know organic loading rate (OLR) is defined multiplying hydraulic flow rate(HFR) with BOD or COD so when olr is high its means HFR or BOD goes up. When HFR goes up it's means HRT goes down and when BOD goes up it's means F/M goes up at higher allowance prescribed. In both sides of these conditions the performance and quality of treated wastewater decreases. On the other hand when OLR goes up your system shifts from extended aeration or conventional system to high rate system . In this condition your aeration capacity and HRT and also goes down comparing to extended aeration system and my you see sludge bulking and turbidity of effluent
