Water From The Air

Published on by in Technology

I wish to know about all the available devices/technologies that are capable of havesting clean water from the air itself. Where/how can I get such devices here in the United States? Or, even perhaps make such water capturing devices on my own with the right materials? I've seen those water catching nets used in parts of South America and Africa.

we can export any size machines to the USA

  2. Scientists have figured out a way to harvest water from dry desert air using only the sun's heat. The device could be a game-changer for the approximately 2.1 billion people around the world who lack immediate access to clean drinking water.

The device is made of a porous material called a metal-organic framework (MOF) that's housed within a clear plastic box. In simple terms, water vapor from the atmosphere condenses on the MOF material, which absorbs it like a sponge. As the water evaporates, it gets trapped and collected by the device.

However, this may not be a good idea as a certain amount of humidity is desirable in the atmosphere.  If you look at the water cycle, you will notice that the water that evaporates into air returns as rain.   This is one of the scarcest commodities in the world today and who knows we may have to pay heavily for a bottle of even drinking water in the days to come.

    1. I have used this method before, it may work for three wet seasons. But in very hot conditions such as summer season and temperature above 50 degrees Celsius, this method is not possible and we face a challenge.

  3. It is possible to harvest water from air almost anywhere in the world. Our core Air-to-Water unit uses a turbine that forces air through a heat exchanger, where the air is cooled and condensation takes place. An atmospheric water generator (AWG), also known as a hydro panel or hydropanel, is a device that extracts water from humid ambient air, producing potable water.
