Event for Students to Demonstrate the Sustainable Water Use/Management

Published on by in Academic

I need to organize a couple of events for the students of the age group of 15-20 to give them the practical exposure or the clear idea of sustainable water use/management.

The event may also be of the type where ones who already have an idea about this can utilize/implement/participate with some innovative ideas in this domain.

Of course, the event should be attractive and interesting for youths.

  1. Many activities can be organized. World water Day, Water Resource Day World Environment Day etc can be organized.

You can also give them small project work like measurement of water required for various activities being carried out in home.

You also visit Viraj Paryavaran Prashala on Face book.

You can also call me. I will like to interact with your students if you are near by Pune.

  4. That's very innovative idea you have! You can just announce through thene intercollege water festival or like. Invite nearby scientist or person of water management division who will mentor and lite the fest...

  5. Hi Rinki, you may check out our website www.janajal.com for details on a very effective way to manage water efficiently. Happy to assist you if you wish to organise a visit by your students to our water ATMs in Mumbai or New Delhi. Let me know. Best.

    1. Dear Parag. Thank you very much for your reply. It would be really great if our students will get exposure to the working mechanism of water ATMs.  Would it be possible in next one or two weeks time?

Also, is there any possibility of student internship in your organization?

      1. Yes. Its possible. We will do all we can to help them understand the operating model and the overarching impact that the concept delivers. Can you drop me an email on parag@janajal.com so that I can loop in other team members to take this forward? Thank you and best wishes for all you're doing.

    2. Rinki, hi

I suggest you take them down to their local supermarket to look at the labels  in the fruit & veg and meat sections to see in which countries the food has been produced. Then search on the web for water stories in those countries (water stress/scarcity).

As for what happens in the supply chain between the growers/producers and the supermarket/retailer, you could start by looking at the report which a colleague and I wrote in 2016 called: 'Water management and stewardship: taking stock of corporate water behaviour'. Google and read! (there is a summary at the start). That'll get their student brains ticking over... Regards, Peter

      1. Dear Rajendra Kumar Saraf

Thank you very much for your reply. We are located in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. The plan is for organizing a couple of lead up events related to water theme among many other themes which will be followed by a major event during the first week of November. Our objective is to encourage youths with finding youth-led solutions for both the climate change and sustainable development challenges that we are facing today.
