Milk Processing Plant
Published on by PETER KARANI, Director at Safi water treatment solution in Business
Can anybody out there get in touch if you can design a diary / milk processing plant with a small foot print? The WWTP must meet the 20/30 BOD/SS mg/l final effluent discharge standards.
Do let us know the information you require and the possible design cost of the plant.
much appreciated

If you wish to recycle your treated water like potable at low operating costs, 95% efficiency and zero pollutant emissions, send us your daily water demand and recent wastewater quality test
We recover pure cetine, lactine and other milk proteins

We can do this, however we do need information including:
effluent flow rates (peak, average),
contaminant analyses (peak, average),
data on CIP chemicals used (principal components – SDS, dose rates and usage).
Also would there be any interest in recycling and reusing specifically CIP process water?

Dear Sir,
This follows our earlier request to you seeking to know whether we can source for a compact, pre-packaged WWTP from you for dairy waste treatment.
The necessary information is given in the attachment.
The waste water generated is 3m3/ day.
The effluent characteristics are as follows:
COD – 2500 – 3000mgl
BOD (%DAY) 1600 – 2400mgl
TSS 780 -19000mgl
TS 1800 – 2500mgl
PH 7.1 ---------- 8.5
The printed final effluent characteristics are as follows:
pH – 6.5 - 80
BOD < 20 mgl
COD < 50mgl/l
TSS < 30MGL/L
SS > 30 mgl/l
Do now advice on the availability and the cost.
We shall look forward to receiving a positive reply from you.
Best Regards

We design and build using local materials to ensure easy maintenance an sustainability. The cost depends on the water volume and if you want to reuse the water and abstract value from the wastewater . We are working with artisan cheese and diaries in UK. I assume you are in Kenya and we have a partner there. We are NVH Global Ltd www.nvhglobal.com.

Hello :
How much milk does the factory process per day?

i am in the US, and have written two books on wastewater treatment. I have designed plants for industrial facilities, and am currently working with a large company on a specialized dairy waste treatment system which focuses on energy recovery.
For a small footprint, I believe you need to consider a Sequencing Batch Reactor. It's simple and effective and can be automated. I can provide design services and specifying and operational assistance.

I have designed many such plants I suggest you google me or my company Sewage and RBC Solutions Ltd and send me a more detailed request and I will respond I was Severn Trent Water’ Ltd’s Principal Engineer responsible for both the civil and mechanical design and have designed hundreds of plants to a minimum 20 year standard and 95% complianc
I was awarded a visiting professor status by a major U K university recognising my ability
my experience covers the structural as well as the process design of the package plant
