Want to setup small water purify plant.

Question

Hello, am a agriculture graduate and i want to set up a small water purifier plant. I want to sale that water afterwards. Please guide me how to proced for that and also tell me what are Ultra Violate (UV), Ultra Filtration (UF), Reverse Osmosis (RO), Chemical Dosing based (CD) etc. I am reading mterial on this but a friendly guidance is more valuable.

My plant will be a small one, may be a capacity of 2 thousand lit a day..pl help.

very thank you for the comments. I have yet not started the procedure. I am from a small village from Bhutan, working these days outside Bhutan. Well done Aamir. To add a little, whether to use UV, UF, or RO depends more on the quality of the raw water source and your budget. So conduct water quality test to know the quality of water in the area of your project. UV is highly needed to treat surface water because the microbiological contamination is likely to be high. RO is necessary if the raw water source is salty and has above average metal contamination. However, if the raw water source is of good quality, UF is economically good to produce standard drinking water.

UV works on the principle of bombarding the water with UV rays. Initially it was thought that UV kills the micro organisms. But the current thinking is that it only deactivates them, or at least some of them, who can get activated again after a few hours. (it is also possible that this is a sales gimmick by the competitor systems). In any case, UV is OK if you are going to use the purified water immediately, without storing it for long. UF filters the water through a very fine membrane which removes all bacteria and viruses. Of course it removes all suspended impurities and even some colloidal impurities. (what is a Colloid ? Look up in google). But UF will NOT remove dissolved impurities. RO is the only system that removes even the dissolved impurities. RO is required if the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) exceeds a certain value. (what is the upper limit ? Look for discussion on that elsewhere in IWP). RO is also suggested if you have reasons to believe that your water may be contaminated with pesticides/ heavy metals/ industrial effluents.
