Request for Information on Alternative Water Treatment Technology/Process Options Rand Water is a South African water utility that supplies potable water to the Gauteng province and other areas of the country and is the largest water utility in Africa. Rand Water requests for information on alternative water treatment technology/process options to treat source water under current and future water quality scenarios without the application of carbon dioxide and with minimal modification to existing treatment process, or where the service provider can prove superior technical and economic performance. 1. @ Don Mogapi Pitsoe - See www.watsan.in  recently we participated in Gaitondo exhibition in Rwanda and got our filtered water approved from WASAC. We use nano-clay filters to filter water which is zero electricity based, zero wastage and easy to maintain, less costlier than any other medium for filtration.

  2. Dear Mr. Mogapi,

We would like to take the opportunity to present Natural Seawater Desalination (room temperature evaporation) as a magnificent process generating pure water out of seawater WITHOUT ANY ENERGY CONSUMPTION TO COMPLETE THIS SEPARATION. It is a direct imitation of the natural process for the formation of pure rain water out of seawater, and similar to the industrial water cooling towers in which some water is evaporated at room temperature cooling the remaining bulk of water stream. In other words, the energy needed to evaporate pure water from seawater is obtained by cooling the bulk of seawater, without any extra supply of energy. A process which is clear to every eye without exception. The equipment needed is very simple as the materials are not specified to withstand any high temperature or pressure.

a more detailed description including drawings is provided at our website naturalseawaterdesalination.com.

Our equipment come at less than half the price than equivalent reverse osmosis equipment, to clarify how simple and much more effective is our room temperature evaporation process

It is only a matter that the concept will be demonstrated to the audience of seawater desalination, and surely everyone will be convinced.

  3. Dear Mr. Mogapi, modern membrane technology can be part of the solution you are looking for. But as "each case is different" (what we denomintae the "golden role of chemical engineering") an meticulous independent assessment is absolute necessary. Please have a look at wwww.petersconsulting.eu.
