From Drains to Elephant Guts: What Elephant Dung Reveals About Uganda’s Plastic Crisis.
The pile of elephant dung looked ordinary. Fresh, damp and packed with half-digested grass, it lay beside a dusty game track in Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife sanctuaries. But a closer look revealed something that should never have been there.
A strip of green polythene bag protruded from the dung. Nearby were fragments of plastic water packaging twisted within the fibrous waste.
Plastic in Africa’s Elephant Dung, wrote the Blue Community Water Journalists Africa and their flagship project Info Nile Today. The team of the Indian Blue Community Vaidic Srijan took that article up and made it a video clip. Great teamwork between two Blue Communities! Two continents, two organisations, but one common interest: Our fight for safe water.
