Sufficient Integrating Water Infrastructure in Urban Development

Today the City council is developing a new approach to urban planning so as to include different relevant stakeholders in the process at an early stage and coordinate their different needs. This is being done to avoid planning conflicts in further stages of urban development.

More often than not urban water and wastewater infrastructure is only considered in the final phase after the zoning plan was adopted. As a result, there is a reduced scope for new energy- effective and well-functioning solutions. It concerns:

• robust optimization for the water network,
• effective preventative measures against water pollution,
• better design of wastewater networks in order to adapt to climate change, which leads to more frequent and heavier rainfall and flooding.
