Engineering services needed to validate a novel MED hybrid process.

Published on by in Technology

We require engineering services to validate a Multi-Effect Distillation process using a novel terminal chamber.  Parts of the system are patented and other are patent-pending.  Our aim is to present the technology at conferences in September and October.

  1. Yes I can provide you the required service, since I have been evaluating and validating various technologies for WFI systems, including stillmass, pharmalab etc. If you are interested then please contact me at +919872819877

  2. Dear Dhaval,

this technology and application seems interesting. What’s the kind of support you need?

    1. Stefano Scappazzoni Hello Stefano,

I just learned that I need to place the @ symbol before your name to direct a message to you.

First, we need to show feasibility and value (cost vs benefit thermodynamically and economically).  We can do this with computer software.   Can you help with this?  What facets of this technology interest you?

      Thank you,

      Dhaval

  3. Dear Dhaval,

is your project still an idea or have you already built a pilot plant?

What engineering services do you need? For calculations, sizing, drawings, construction, or anything else?

I tried looking on your homepage but I could not find any useful information.

Please, if you can be more specific we can maybe be helpful.

    Thank you and good work.

    1. Duilio Calura We need to calculations first to validate a system similar to MEDAD (https://www.medad-tech.com/technologies).  Our top operating temperature is 55C and condensing temperature ~1C.  We have significant amount of heat at 55C.  Does this help you move forward?  We have the vacuum available to boil water close to freezing temperature.

      1. Dear Dhaval,

sorry, but the indicated link doesn’t work.

Anyway: how many stages (effects) have you intended to applicate?

Which is the possible Delta T between each stage?

You mentioned a boiling point at the last stage near 0°C. Yes, this is possible, but:

        1) How much energy is needed for this purpose? A lot!

        2) At this (low) boiling point, the steam volume is incredible very big and you will need a very large condensation surface.

        3) To reach this very low vacuum you will need a cascade of different vacuum pumps and one of these must work with oil. it means that a well-functioning distillate trap should be implemented, if not, you have to regenerate very often the special oil.

        4) Please, don’t forget the energy (electricity?) needed for the vacuum-skid.

        5) What kind of medium do you intend to use for the last stage? Please remember that his must be colder than the steam itself (that is near the freezing point!)

That’s why a mass & energy balance must be calculated first!

There is a lot of remaining questions that must be cleared but if you can supply me first some information for these 5 points, it will be possible for me to understand your aim and intentions better. Thank you.

        Best regards

        Duilio

    2. Hello Dr. Calura,

Our system is very similar to https://www.medad-tech.com/technologies but we have a different terminal chamber.  We do need to integrate this into the MED process.  We were advised to have a mass and energy balance done first, but our assessment is that we have more than enough energy for the system.  Mass balance is not affected.

We can use all the services you mentioned for the MED process.  Subsequently, we have the potential to perform brine mining profitably with our process.  This flow needs engineering services as well.  The vacuum and thermal energy allows for low temperature evaporation of water from brine.

Please email me at Dhaval@lotus-pure.com for detailed information about the process.  Some aspects are patented and some are still patent-pending.

      Thank you,

      Dhaval

  4. Dear Mr. Patel,

We combined our MEH systems with Solar thermal systems for desalination of brackish water in India-Tamil Nadu. In cooperation with NIOT (National Institute for Ocean Technologies) Chennai this system was scaled up and used in the Lakshadweep Islands. We did this project with our Indo German company called Gerindtec.

In case you like to lern more about it, please do not hesitate to contact me under infoPeter Althaus .

Maybe we can support your project.

    Take care,

    Peter

    1. Peter Althaus Hello Dr. Althaus,

I apologize that I did not know to direct my response by using the @ symbol before your name.  Please provide me with whatever information you have regarding the MEH system.  I remember a system in that area that used deep seawater for condensation of water vapor from surface seawater.

      Thank you,

      Dhaval

    2. Hello Dr. Althaus,

Thank you for your response.  I remember NOIT using deep sea water to condense water vapor from surface seawater.  I don't know if this is what you are referring to.

I am not sure how to contact you using the link provided.  Please contact me Dhaval@Lotus-Pure.com.

      Thank you,
      Dhaval
