I have a 15 CMD sewage water from a camp.  The oil and grease is 115 ppm. Which low-cost method can I use to treat it?

  2. i would suggest to remove oil & grease treated from water by using O&G trap before it passs over to STP. O&G traps works on simple physical separation, and there are simple designs available on net, you can pick the cheapest.

    good luck

  3. You may want to try adding oil eating microbes. No facility required. waste water will be 100% cleaned and ready for potable use.  City municipalities use one 25# box apx $150 for a 300,000 gallon holding tank. After cleaning they pump out into their potable water into a man made lake. The multi million dollar homes have maintenance that pump the lake for ground watering purposes. Works out to be 1 cent per 20 gallons. But remember no discharge at all. 100% recycle.  great for desert subsistence and all 3rd world countries.

  4. Hi, if you have enough space and want to build also a nice naturalistic area you can take into consideration a phytodepuration plant (HF, VF or FWS or their combination) being sure to have a good preliminary treatment for the removal of oil and grease. They are very good for less than 2000 PE centers but need a quite continue flow. Estimated area: 2-40 sm per PE, depending on the type. You can find further information on the web. Here find an italian manual:

    Bye!

  5. It is possible. Generally the oil and grease won't be more the 20 PPM. This kind of wastewater needs a special treatment. Appreciate, if you could send the complete details such the inlet quality of the sewage/wastewater, outlet parameters and where does the treated water will be used to me at msrikan@gmail.com.

    1. It is important to understand what will be the use of treated water before a recommendation can be made for treatment.    I agree with Mr. Meesa.  PPM level of oil/ grease appears to be higher than expected.
